Dune Villas Complex is a relatively small complex of single-story villas. We designed three types of villas here: 50 square meters, 80 square meters, and 120 square meters.
We worked on this project for a developer who set an ambitious goal: to create a philosophy and concept that would not only grab attention but also organically "go viral" in a positive way
CONCEPT
The concept was inspired by the universe of “Dune”. We identified key directions that formed the foundation of the concept:
- Brutalism emphasizes the texture and rawness of materials. These techniques help capture the essence of Dune a mystical yet intricately detailed atmosphere that draws attention.
- Play of light and shadow creating a muted, mysterious atmosphere where light filters in fragmentally, highlighting individual details.
- Delicate elements - slotted windows, decorative furniture with wooden carvings, and panels that add lightness and elegance to the space.
These techniques help capture the essence of Dune, a mystical yet intricately detailed atmosphere that draws attention.
We decided to focus on volumes and shapes. Since the villas are small and single-story, we needed to give them a bold, rugged look. To achieve this, we added decorative protrusions to the facade. These not only enhance the visual texture but also cleverly conceal the external air conditioning units. This approach gave the space the expressive character it needed without sacrificing functionality.
At the entrance, guests are greeted by a massive stele featuring an image of a sandworm, a direct nod to Dune.
Another unique detail is the villa numbering. Instead of traditional numbers, we used the alphabet from the Dune universe.
At night, the complex transforms: all the facades, including these symbols, are illuminated, creating a special atmosphere. The result is a calm yet bold architectural ensemble that is both memorable and eye-catching.
